Your brain is shielded by your skull and the liquid inside of it. But, if you hit your head, or your body is strongly jolted, your brain may hit the inside of your skull with force. If this occurs throughout a car accident, you may have a concussion.
Concussions can be severe, and the symptoms do not often show up immediately. Sometimes the signs are apparent such as disorientation or even loss of awareness, but it can also be more complicated.
Here is a list of symptoms of a concussion:
failure to concentrate
problem learning new information
Lack of energy.
Abnormal sleep patterns like sleeping longer than usual sleep or less than usual.
If you show any of these symptoms following a car accident, you might have a concussion; and you should ask for medical attention.
